Agriculture Loans
The Bank recognizes the significance of agriculture to the livelihood of Dominicans and its potential to contribute to national development. For these reasons, it provides financial support to viable projects, designed to improve the performance of the nation's agricultural sector.
In the area of agricultural lending, the Bank will give preference to projects for the following activities:
- use, development and maintenance of land for any husbandry purpose, including livestock and poultry;
- the production, processing (including agro-processing) and transportation of crops, (including root crops, bananas, grains, citrus, vegetables, fruit crops and other commercial crops);
- the purchase and installation of farm machinery, equipment and vehicles and processing and storage facilities;
- the purchase and erection of farm buildings and the construction of farm roads;
- undertaking fishing activities (including aqua-culture, processing, marketing, storage of plant and equipment, purchase and construction of fishing vessels with equipment and fishing gear);
- forestry (including saw-milling, the extraction and processing of forest products); and horticulture.
- payment of labour and the purchase of agricultural inputs;
- discharge of liabilities incurred in relation to the development or improvement of agricultural production.
